How will working in the Holden lab prepare me for a job after graduation?
My philosophy for student mentoring is to train students how to learn science and then how to ask and answer new scientific questions using a suite of approaches. My lab is collegial where students of all backgrounds are welcome and work together with me to probe new ideas and explore scientific possibilities. Twenty graduate students and over 30 undergraduates have worked in my lab. After graduation, my graduate students have gone on to start a biotechnology company, work for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, manage research labs, and become a university professor and a government scientist. The undergraduate students in my lab have gone on to medical, dental, and graduate school or taken jobs in industry and environmental protection.
